On Sunday we celebrated our Session Clerks 50th Anniversary of his ordination as an Elder. Bob and Lily can be seen receiving his certificate and flowers from the Rev Fiona Maxwell.

On Sunday we welcome Rev Fiona Maxwell of Neilston Parish Church to lead worship. Sunday is Communion and all are welcome. The service starts at 11am

Once more fear stalks our streets, and innocent people are hurt and harmed. We pray for all caught up in the situation in London. In the anguish and the anxiety, steadiness and an unwillingness to be intimidated by any form of violence is the only response.
It is hard, in the face of these senseless actions, to respond with anything other than anger. But anger diminishes our humanity. We reach out to friend and stranger, and in Christ's Name we call for peace, and model peace, and offer peace.
Heartfelt prayers to everyone who will be grieving today. We also remember Crown Court and St Columba's , their people and their ministers. And for all people of goodwill and faith at this time.

What is to be said in the light (light?) of the events in London last night? How do we begin to understand those who carry out such actions against innocent people on a warm Saturday evening? What is the question they are asking if actions like these appear, to them, the best answer?
‘Those’, ‘they’, ‘them’.
It is hard to get close to people who act in the way of violence.
Jesus says, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.”
When our prayers seem to go unanswered; when we are left with questions and doubts and fears; when our own impulse to good and kindness and tolerance is in danger of closing down, we need the gentleness and resilience of God’s love and presence more, and not less.
Today is Pentecost, the day of the Holy Spirit. May the Spirit’s cleansing, comforting, healing power touch our hearts, touch London, touch our nation, and transform our world.

A minute silence will be held at the General Assembly today to remember the people killed and injured in the Manchester bomb attack.
Flags at the General Assembly Hall and at the National Offices in George Street in Edinburgh will be flown at half-mast.
Right Rev Dr Derek Browning, Moderator of the General Assembly, said: "When the news of this appalling and brutal act in Manchester came to us, most of us will have been stunned.
"That young people and children, with others, could be the subject of what Police are now treating as a premeditated act of violence is beyond comprehension.
"There is no cause, political or religious, that justifies actions of senseless brutality, anywhere or at any time.
"Today the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland offers its prayer and deepest concern to all who have been caught up in this action.
"The young people and their families and friends, the emergency and security services, and the people of that great city of Manchester.
"We pray for them and send our sincerest wishes of peace to come in this heart-rending situation."
