The Glenburn Heritage Group has been created to carry out historical research relating both to the Parish Church and the Community of Glenburn.
We have a few projects in the pipeline, but for now we are concentrating our efforts into finding out more information about members of the George Street UF Church, which eventually became Glenburn Parish in 1955, who died, or served during World War One.
We have transcribed all of the names from the Roll of Honour, that was transferred from George Street, and now hangs in the Hall of Fellowship within the present Sanctuary. The next step is to trace everyone on the Roll (around 250 names) to see the regiment they served in, where they died and who there parents etc were. a second task is to research members who died during the second world war.
We also have plans to research the early history of Glenburn and the later development of the housing estate.
If you would like to get involved in this Group, please contact Stephen Clancy on a Sunday morning.
